Charles Jasper “CJ” Moore, 91 of Mortons Gap passed away Monday, January 2, 2018, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. Born October 11, 1926, to the late Charles and Dixie (Gatlin) Moore. He was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church since 1947 and served as Deacon for 56 years. He was farmer and a retired UMWA coal miner of more than 30 years. CJ was a veteran of the U.S Army and was stationed in Japan during World War II. He served as past President of the Hopkins County Farm Bureau, Kentucky Colonel, was involved with the construction of over 20 Habitat homes, and was a lifelong blood donor that has donated over 8 gallons of blood. Above all, CJ was a devoted husband, father, and community servant his entire adult life.
Preceded in death by his wife of 69 years Robbie Jo Moore; granddaughter, Amanda Jo Moore; and four sisters, Mary Powell, Minnie Foster, Lucy Bennett and Martha Turley.
Survived by his two sons, Steve (Kathy) Moore of Nashville, TN, and Tim (Twila) Moore of Nortonville; grandson, Tyler Moore; granddaughter, McKenzie (Cody) Hartley; step-grandson, Jacob Beeny; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylynn and Dylan Beeny.
Services will be held at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mortons Gap on Monday at 1:00 P.M. with Bro. Jerry Brewer officiating. Burial to follow in Salem Church Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville and from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Monday at the church. Pallbearers are Joey Harralson, Truman Suthard, Jack Faulk, Tyler Moore, Jacob and Dylan Beeny, Cody Hartley and Bill Flynn.
