James L. (Doonie) Proffitt, Jr.

James L. “Doonie” Proffitt, Jr., 63 of Nortonville passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 22, 1953 in Madisonville, KY to the late James L. Proffitt, Sr. and late Opal Teague Proffitt.  “Doonie” loved a good laugh and will always be remembered for his love, friendship and great humor.  He was of Christian faith and a member of The River in Nortonville.  
 
He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Roger, and one sister in law, Doris.
 
“Doonie” is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie Proffitt; daughters, Lesley (Brad) Wells and Sarah (Jason) Hancock; one son, Matthew Proffitt; sister, Joyce (Brad) Smith; sister in law, Delilah Proffitt; and grandchildren, Marilyn Lewis, Riley Wells, Amelia Hancock and Isaac Proffitt.
 
Services will be Saturday at 2 pm at Bandy Funeral Home, Nortonville with Bro. Howard Jones officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in New Salem Cemetery, Nortonville.  Visitation will be Saturday at 10 am till service time at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Brad and Neil Smith, Shane Proffitt, Chris Bruch, Rickey Trover, Michael Long and Chris Brasher.  Honorary pallbearer will be Frank Hancock.       Condolences may be made online at bandyfuneralhome.com.
