William H. "Buddy" Rodgers, 78 years of Nortonville passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Ridgewood Terrace Health. Born February 6, 1939, to the late V.P. and Annie Kirksey Rodgers. He was a former National Guard, a retired coal miner with UMWA, and was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He always enjoyed the outdoors, joking with others and plenty of time with the grandkids.
Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Arthur, Frank, Carly, and Charles Rodgers; and three sisters, Charlene Vandiver, Bonnie Belcher, and Zeta Cavanah.
Survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Putman Rodgers; four sons, Rick Spain of Owensboro, Jeff (Heidi) Love of Albuquerque, NM, Nick (Lisa) Rodgers and Greg Rodgers all of Nortonville; seven grandchildren, Hannah Peveler of Hopkinsville, Mallory and Paige Rodgers of Nortonville, Julia Parrish of Yuma, AZ, Luke Love of Albuquerque, NM, Casey Spain of Hanson, and Josh Love of FL; and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be held Saturday at Bandy Funeral Home at 11:00AM with Bro. Steve Rutherford and Bro. Jerry Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday 5:00PM - 8:00PM and after 9:00AM on Saturday. Pallbearers are Greg and Nick Rodgers, Casey Spain, Randy Blanchard, Seth Peveler, and Galvin Cavanah. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Love and Rick Spain.
