James Pogue Pollard, 95 of Nortonville passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Born October 29, 1923, to the late Eddie and Cladie (Pogue) Pollard of Nortonville. He attended New Salem Baptist Church and was a member of Nortonville Christian Church. He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal and spent many years at Sinclair where he was known as "Tojo" and was a member of UMWA District 23. He was a hard core UK Wildcats fan, you were welcome to watch the game with him, but do not interrupt the game.
Preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Pollard; and sister, Faye Saint.
Survived by his daughters, Patsy (Tommy) Hurd of Crofton, Teresa (Ken) Allen of White Plains and Debbie (Barry) Crick of Nortonville; six grandchildren, Jeff (Lana) Hurd of Hopkinsville, Rusty (Jennifer) Hurd of Bowling Green, Kim (Randy) Herring of Nortonville, Bryan (Kristy) Crick of Nortonville, Jeff (Debbie) Allen of Hurricane, West Virginia, and Kenny (Candy) Allen of White Plains; twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zack Allen, Sean and Logan Hurd, Hunter McCuiston, Maddi Hurd, Alex Oliver, Sydnee and Sawyer Herring, Dakota Larkins, Jaxon Crick and Jacey Cunningham; and three great-great-grandchildren, Sophie and Skyler Allen and Dani McCuiston.
Service will be held at Bandy Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery with Tyler Allen officiating at graveside. Visitation will be Thursday 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday after 9:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Bryan and Jaxon Crick, Jeff and Rusty Hurd, Randy and Sawyer Herring.
