Rev. Owen Kenneth Johnston, 84 of White Plains went home to be with his Lord and Savior January 25, 2018, at Baptist Health Hospital. Born July 23, 1933, to the late Owen and Bertha (Elkins) Johnston in Philadelphia, PA. Married to his childhood sweetheart for 62 years, Polly Harvey, he was a Bible Scholar, Navy Veteran, Rural Letter Carrier, carpenter, farmer, artist and a musician. He became an ordained Baptist minister in 1958 and went on to pastor 2 churches in Missouri and over 10 churches in Kentucky. He loved Jesus, his family, and his church with a fervent passion. He consistently shared the miracle of God's love to everyone.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Johnston; and infant son, Kenneth Steven Johnston.
Survived by his loving wife, Polly Johnston; four children, Timothy Johnston of Madisonville, Joy (Steve) Harper, Tony Johnston and Sam (Debbie) Johnston all of White Plains; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mortons Gap on Monday at Noon with Brothers Bill Egbert, Tommy Marsh, Jerry Brewer, Al Cobb and Toby DeHay officiating. Burial to follow in Concord Cemetery in White Plains. Visitation to be held at Bandy Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and Monday at the church after 10:00 A.M.
