Thurman Wesley "Chick" Slaton, 82 of Nortonville passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019, at Baptist Health Hospital. Born February 3, 1937, to the late John and Wilhelmina (Yonts) Slaton of Nortonville. He was a retired coal miner and farmer, and he attended New Salem Baptist Church. He was proud to be a farmer and proud of the family that he and his wife raised.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years in 2010, Janet Rhye Slaton; son, Wesley Slaton; granddaughter, Solice Slaton; brother, J.W. "Rooster" Slaton; and sister, Melvie Brewer.
Survived by his three children, Rose (Gary) Brothers of Cape Girardeau, MO, Joe (Michelle) Slaton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Johnnie (Cheryl) Slaton of Nortonville; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville on Friday at Noon with Bro. Gary Brothers and Bro. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 10:00 A.M. til service time.
