Adrian “Ray” Doss Jr., 76, of Madisonville Kentucky passed away on October 9th, 2023. Born on November 1, 1946, to the late Pauline Tucker and Adrian Doss Sr. in Lafayette, Indiana. Ray was an honorable U.S.M.C. Veteran who took pride in serving his country. He was enlisted from 1963-1968, serving in Vietnam and he was stationed at Camp Lejeune. He received awards as follows: Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal with device; Presidential Unit Citation; National Defense Service Medal; and Rifle Marksmanship Badge. After his service in the military, Ray became a medical transport driver for disabled veterans under the DAV.
Ray enjoyed being at the VFW or the Mandarin House any moment he could. He loved doing karaoke and singing “The Marines Hymn.” He also loved driving his old Ford F-150 and keeping it shiny. He loved his country music, dickie shirts, and cowboy boots. Ray could always tell a funny story or joke that could make you laugh or maybe irritate you. He was honest and stubborn but would give the shirt off his back to help someone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Ray Doss Sr.; mother, Pauline Tucker; sister, Diana Mercer; brother, Bruce Doss; and wife, Joyce Ray Doss.
He is survived by his children, Denita Doss, Michael (Beth) Doss; grandchildren; step-daughters, Randi (Ray) Browning of Madisonville, Joyce (Danny) Young of Mississippi, Norma Wade of Hopkinsville Ky., and Vera (David) Ramsey of Illinois; step-granddaughter, Caylee Moore; and 9 step-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00am Friday, October 13th, 2023, at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville.
