Aquilla Jane Johnson, 73 of Nortonville passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the Lucy Smith King Care Center in Henderson with her family at her side. Born September 13, 1952, to the late Isaiah Payne and the late Coalene (Gamblin) Cansler of Nortonville. She was a member of the White Plains House of Hope Church and she previously worked as a nurse aide. Aquilla had a talent for singing and she enjoyed sharing her gift. Her family brought her joy, especially the grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Carlos Wayne Johnson; and her siblings, Alice Clark, Barbara Hankins, Patricia Lemons and Phillip Payne.
Survived by her 3 daughters, Christy (Gary) Brown of Crofton, Tammy (Virgil) Marcum of Madisonville and Kathy (Billy) Miller of Nortonville; 7 grandchildren, Chris (Elizabeth) Miller of Crofton, Jonathon Miller of Nortonville, Michael (Shawna Simms) Miller of Nortonville, Ashley (James) Gilford of Crofton, Trisha (Scott) Smith of Crofton, Amanda Madison of Madisonville and Kim (Shelby) Marcum of Madisonville; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Service will be held Sunday at 2:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Bro. Gary Brown and Bro. Butch McKnight officiating. Burial to follow at Shaw/Gamblin Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will begin at noon until service time Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Michael Miller, Jonathon Miller, C.J. Miller, Scott Smith, James Gilford and Cordevin Baggett. Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Miller, Alex Marcum, Jace Gilford, Athan Miller and Devon Smith.
