Grover William Matheny

Grover William Matheny, 91 of White Plains passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing in Madisonville.  Born July 30, 1933, to the late John Matheny and the late Jannie (Gipson) Uzzle.  He worked as a logger for many years and he was a heavy equipment operator for Charolais Coal Company until retirement.  Grover enjoyed watching Nascar racing and was a true fan of the sport.  He was an avid gardener; he had a green thumb for flowers and for vegetables.  Grover was known for his strawberry patch.  His love for gardening naturally brought on his disdain for the squirrels and deer though, he was always fighting to protect against them.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Williams) Matheny.

Survived by his half-sister, Lou Dean Stanley of White Plains; and several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville.  Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in White Plains.  Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home.
