Hilda Lavon Vandiver Camplin, 84 of Madisonville, formerly of St. Charles, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born July 15, 1937, to the late Jesse and Arte (Smith) Vandiver of Nortonville. She attended Life Christian Center church in Madisonville and was a retired school bus driver for Hopkins County with over 20 years of service. Hilda was very active in the church, she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, volunteered with the Sanctuary Church on Friday nights, and was known to be a prayer warrior.
Preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Camplin; and siblings, Carmon Franklin, Louis Vandiver, Houston Vandiver, Shelia Burns, Gerriel Vandiver and Stephen Vandiver.
Survived by her children, Jimmy (Belinda) Camplin of Dawson Springs, and Tonya Camplin-Williams (Harold Williams) of Brandon, FL; 4 grandchildren, Alison Camplin-Mercer (Cody Mercer) of Central City, Eric Nathan Camplin of St. Charles, Celeste Williams of St. Pete, FL, and Elijah Williams of Jacksonville, FL; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison Prow and Campsyn Mercer; previous daughter-in-law, Beverly (Donald) Franklin of St. Charles; and siblings, Sharon Hugo, Janice Love, Ralph Vandiver, Jack Vandiver and Clifton Vandiver.
Service will be held Monday at 12:00p.m. (noon) Life Christian Center in Madisonville with Bro. John Kincade officiating. Burial to follow at Gilland Ridge Cemetery in St. Charles. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville, and Monday after 10:00a.m. at the church. Pallbearers are Cody Mercer, Kyle Bolvin, Nathan Camplin, Elijah Williams, Harold Williams and Tommy Vandiver. Honorary pallbearer is Barry Franklin.
