James Alan Brasher, 67 of Nortonville passed away Friday, January 2, 2026, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born February 27, 1958, to the late James E. Brasher and Dorothy (Craddock) Brasher Knight of Nortonville. He drove a mail truck for many years for the U.S. Postal Service. James recently gave his life to God and was of the Christian faith. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed many hobbies that kept him outside, like gardening, hunting and fishing. James had an open-door policy at his home; everyone was welcome and could feel like that had a safe place to stay. He had many friends and a big family that he liked to spend time with. James was a jokester and loved to give people a good jump-scare. His smile and joking personality will be missed.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Vandiver.
Survived by his mother, Dorothy Brasher Knight of Nortonville; sisters, Debbie Proffitt of Nortonville and Vicky (Scott) Miller of Madisonville; 8 nieces and nephews, Matthew Proffitt, Sarah (Jason) Hancock, Jacob Miller, Jeremy Miller, Lauren Korody, Jaymi (James) Hammond, Katrina Drake, and Jennifer Edmondson; and half-brother, Cecil Phelps.
