Jimmie Cavanaugh Obituary

Jimmie Forest "Frog" Cavanaugh, 86 of Madisonville passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, at home with family by his side.  Born September 27, 1934, to the late Dan Cornelius and Addie Pearl (Winsett) Cavanaugh of Nortonville.  He was a life long member of New Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served as the Sunday school director for many years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, he was a Master Mason with over 60 years as a member of the N.H. Shaw Lodge # 608, F. & A.M.  He worked as yard master at Illinois Central Railroad until his retirement.  Jimmie enjoyed playing golf and going fishing, he was proud of his family and loved spending time with them.  He was devoted to his church family and loved serving the Lord.

Preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Amon Cavanaugh and Paul Dennis Cavanaugh; sister, Esther Joyce Strader; brother-in-laws, O'Neal Lewis and Kenneth Phaup.

Survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Juanita (Grace) Cavanaugh; son, Stephen Forest Cavanaugh of Princeton; daughter, Deb (Lewis) Dixon of Madisonville; two grandchildren, Lydia Nicole Brothers of San Antonio, TX, and Garrett Allen Brothers of Hanson; three sisters, Martha Jo Lewis of Nortonville, Carolyn Phaup of Madisonville and Rita (Larry) Yandell of Nortonville; sister-in-laws, Norma Cavanaugh of Henderson and Jeannie Cavanaugh of Nortonville; brother-in-law, Rev. Doug Strader of Louisville; and several nephews and nieces.

Service will be held Tuesday, February 23, at 1:00 P.M. at New Salem Baptist Church with Bro. Steve Rutherford officiating.  Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.   Visitation will  begin at 11:00 A.M. at the church.  Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of New Salem Baptist Church.

Due to Covid-19 masks are mandated and social distancing is required by attendees.  Anyone that has or has had signs/symptoms or has tested positive in the past 14 days is requested to not attend.
