John Thomas "Tommy" Miller, 92 of Nortonville passed away Friday, May 24, 2204, at his home with his family at his side. Born October 17, 1931, to the late John Clinton and Lena (Farmer) Miller of Dawson Springs. He was a 1949 Dawson Springs High School graduate and he worked at Purdy Motor Company. Tommy joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War from 51'-55'. Upon returning home he purchased Faye's Drive-In, 16 years later he closed it and bought Dixie Pan Restaurant in Nortonville, which he owned and operated for 19 years with his wife, Edith. His homemade rolls and pies were well known in the area. Their daughter had become ill so he and Edith dedicated themselves to her and her needs. In 1993 Tommy went to work at Regional Medical Center Food & Nutrition Service in Madisonville. He was a member of Nortonville Methodist Church, was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the N.H. Shaw Masonic Lodge #608. Tommy had a love for his community and a willingness to help. He greeted people with a smile and a kind word. His family brought him pride and joy and he loved spending time with each of them.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith (Pendley) Miller; and daughter, Kathy Jo Barber.
Survived by his 2 sons, John (Shellie) Miller, Jr. of Lewisburg, and Paul Miller of Madisonville; 5 grandchildren, Sarah (Noah) Boyer, Daniel (Katie) Barber, Dustin (Liz) Barber, Kara (Jacob) Dillingham and Leah Miller; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryann & Tiana Boyer, Lilly Jo & Westin Kendrick Barber, Rory Karoline & Wade Elliott Barber, Kasen Michael, Karlie Ann & Kali Lynn Dillingham, and Genevieve Hardin Truckey.
Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Bro. Ted Beaty officiating. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home.
