Jona Leroy Dixon, 65 of Nortonville passed away Saturday, February 14, 2026, at his home. Born December 23, 1960, to the late Virgil Joseph and Betty Louise (Howell) Dixon in Pontiac, IL. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and he was of the Baptist faith. He had many interests and hobbies including playing the guitar and singing, watching wrestling and diamond art. Jona enjoyed playing video games, but he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by grandson, Samuel Matthew Mason; and 5 siblings, Donnie Dixon, Faithanne Dixon, Tony Dixon, Ricky Dixon and Dottie Trease.
Survived by his wife, Cynthia (Messimore) Hopper Dixon; 16 children, Joseph (Jillian) Dixon, Anthony (Stephanie) Wilfong, Nicole (Stewart) Alvey, Amanda Shepherd, Matthew (Christy) Boyd, Michelle (Mark) Smith, Joshua Boyd, Christopher (Montana) Boyd, Tiffany (Steven) Brunker, Tina (Chris Bailey) Brunker, Nathan (Abby) Mason, Bryan (Holly) Mason, Amanda (Adam Diaz) Hopper, Haley (Kaleb) Matheny, Misti (Jared Rigdon) Hopper and Nicholas (Holly Jones) Hopper; 42 grandchildren and 1 on-the-way; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Jo Roberts and Jodie (Mike) McAllister; brother, Jerry Staley; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Pastor Dan Bradshaw. Burial to follow at Love United Baptist Church Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation will begin at 11:00am until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Anthony Wilfong, Joseph Dixon, Nicholas Hopper, Christopher Boyd, Bryan Mason, Cameron Boyd and Nathan Mason.
