Joshua Scot Gaines

Joshua Scot Gaines, 45, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home in Kevil, KY. Born July 30, 1979,  to the late Dr. Scot Edward Gaines, M.D., and the late Suzan Negley Newton.  He was member of the first graduating class of Hopkins County Central High School in 1997. Throughout his life, Josh traveled and lived in many places, including Charleston, SC, where he attended The College of Charleston.  He had a knack for forming close bonds with people whose paths he crossed. He was a beacon of light for all who had the privilege of knowing him and had a rare gift for making others laugh.  Josh was known for hiking, spelunking (cave exploration), and all things outdoors.

Survived by his brothers, Zach, Ashton, and Andrew Gaines, and Cody Newton; and many lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 5:00p.m. on Wednesday, May 14th at Mahr Park Event Barn A in Madisonville.  Visitation will begin at 4:00p.m. until service time at the park barn A.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cerebral Palsy International Research Foundation.
