Randy Glenn Duncan, 71 of Nortonville passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. Born August 27, 1954, to the late Elbert Donovan and Goldie (Ipock) Duncan. He was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. Randy worked as a coalminer for Peabody and Patriot mines for over 40 years. He was a member of Mine Rescue and First Aid team for 35 years; and won 3 Mine and Rescue National Championships. Randy was inducted into the Coal Mine Rescue Hall of Fame in 2019 for his dedication and accomplishments. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, however, the joy in his life was his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy (Max) Byrum, Dean (Carmen) Hight, Wallace (Rita) Duncan, Barbara Duncan and infant siblings, Shirley and Ronnie Duncan; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Almon and Charles Scott.
Survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sherry (Chadwick) Duncan; son, Christopher (Suzanne) Duncan of Madisonville; daughter, Candice (Jacob) Tomblinson of Hendersonville, TN; 5 grandchildren, Broderick, Bentley and Brett Duncan, Rylie and Reece Tomblinson; siblings, Nina Almon, Wayne (Evonne) Duncan, Carolyn (Tony) Faulk, Linda Scott and Rita (Gerald) Chadwick; and siblings-in-law, Roger (Carolyn) Chadwick, June (Terry) Prowse and Yvonne Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Monday at 2:00pm at Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mortons Gap with Bro. Jerry Brewer officiating. Burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville from 4:00pm – 7:00pm and Monday from 11:00am until service time at the church.
Pallbearers are Broderick Duncan, Bentley Duncan, Jacob Tomblinson, Terry Duncan, Matt Duncan, and Rob Duncan. Honorary pallbearers are Brett Duncan, Reece Tomblinson, Timmy Baldwin, Jody Greenwell, Keith Phillips and Tommy Witherspoon.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Mahr Cancer Center and Hosparus Health of Western Kentucky for the care and kindness that Randy received.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gideons International, Mahr Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
