Robert Dennis Nichols, Sr., 80 of Providence passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born June 4, 1942, to the late Robert James and Lil Lucille (Benton) Nichols. He worked as a coal miner for many years for Zigler Coal Company. He had a large family that he enjoyed spending time with and was very proud of.
Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amy Jo Harrison; great-granddaughter, Ericka Robinson; brothers, Melvin Nichols, Gary Nichols and James Richard "Ricky" Nichols; and brother-in-laws, Alvin Smith and Walter Ball.
Survived by his 8 children, Lynn (David) Faw, Robert (Stacey) Nichols, Jr., Herbie (Autumn) Nichols, Shannon Nichols, Chris Nichols, Jenny (Rick) Montooth, Jessica Nichols and Angie (Cali) Nichols; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and 4 sisters, Peggy Smith, Joan Ball, Sheila (Larry) Cartwright and Pamela (Peco) Pease.
Service will be held Friday, August 19, 2022, at 1:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Bro. Ray Brown officiating. Burial to follow at Old Salem Cemetery in Mortons Gap. Visitation will begin at 11:00am at the funeral home.
