Robert “Bob” Wiley Knowles, 99 of White Plains passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center. Born December 23, 1923, to the late William Vernon and Zelma (Scott) Knowles of Ashbyburg. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in World War II as a paramedic. He worked as a coal miner for Zeigler Coal until retirement. Bob spent a lot of time outdoors deer and bird hunting. He had a great bond with his siblings and the rest of his family.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Knowles; son, Larry Knowles; brothers, Bill Knowles, Harold “Sheepdog” Knowles and Kenneth Knowles; and sister-in-law, Emmalene Knowles.
Survived by brothers, Roy Knowles and Darrell (Carolyn) Knowles; sister, Rita Edwards; 3 grandchildren, Mickey (Tracey) Knowles, Rickey (Charlotte) Knowles and Crystal (Larry) Halida; great-grandchildren, Amber (Brandon) Hight, Hank (Deborah) Knowles, Amanda (Donald) Holbrook, Derek Knowles, Austin Knowles, Natalie Halida and Lindsay Halida; great-great-grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, Echo and Caius Knowles, Brantley and Delaney Hight, Lexi, Dustin, Devan and Ashley Holbrook; great-great-great-grandchildren, Carson Hoskins and Ezra Holbrook; and daughters-in-law, Patty Knowles and Linda Martin.
Service will be held Thursday, December 28, at 1:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Bro. Terry Bowman officiating. Burial to follow at Concord Cemetery with Military Rites being provided by Hopkins County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00pm - 7:00pm and beginning at 11:00am Thursday until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Austin Knowles, Hank Knowles, Derek Knowles, Andrew Knowles, Donald Holbrook and Brandon Hight.
