Rodney Dale Miller, 80 of White Plains passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing. Born March 18, 1944, to the late Harvey and Louise (Vandiver) Miller of White Plains. He was a Christian and a deacon for over 50 years and an active member of Pleasant Hill General Baptist church. He worked as a coal miner and a farmer throughout his life and was a UMWA member. He loved his family and was always a good provider for them. Known as “Pipee” to the grandkids and his newest great-granddaughter. He has always been an avid hunter and fisherman. A fan of all sports, but especially of UK Wildcats basketball. He was also a man with many skills and a lot of determination when it came to building the house of his dreams. He cut the trees from his farm and milled them into planks, which he placed in the kiln that he had built to season the wood. He then was able to build his home with the pride of knowing the sweat-equity involved.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Francis Miller; sister, Glenda Duke; and sister-in-law, Jana Miller.
Survived by his daughter, Marjorie (Scott) Ford of Madisonville; son, Andrew Miller of Owensboro; grandchildren, Drew Miller, Andrea Miller, Greyson Miller and Kelly (Jerry) Oliver; great-granddaughter, Naomi Elizabeth Oliver; siblings, Carl (Pat) Miller, Floyd (Shirley) Miller, Vickie (Steve) Martin and Tim (Martha) Miller; and brother-in-law, Leland Duke.
Service will be held at 3:00pm at Pleasant Hill General Baptist church in Nortonville with Bro. Daniel Vandiver and Bro. Ruby Rickard officiating. Burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon until service time. Pallbearers will be Farren Miller, Drew Miller, Jerry Oliver, Clint Duke, Eric Martin and Hunter Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Greyson Miller, Kevin Whitfield, Corey Hendricks and the deacons of the church, Jerry Pool, Lynn Groves, Dwight Allen, Robert Crawford, Jason Eli and Gary Sowders.
