Sharon Fay Franklin Cavanaugh, 67 of Mortons Gap passed away Sunday, June 22,2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess. Born December 10, 1957, to the late Charles Wayne Franklin and the late Gloria Fay Raney Blanks. She was a class of 75’ South Hopkins High School graduate before attending Madisonville Community College. Sharon attended Kentucky Avenue Church of God in Madisonville and New Good Hope in Nortonville. She worked at Carhartt for approximately 15 years and has been a caregiver to many children over the years. Sharon was always one to stay busy, she enjoyed crafts, fishing, puzzles, playing Pokémon Go, and watching the Hallmark channel. She read her Bible regularly and had a deep love for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Blanks.
survived by her husband, Harold Cavanaugh; daughter, Jessica (Joshua) Mercer of Madisonville; son, Joshua Thomas of Morton’s Gap; 2 stepsons, Joseph Cavanaugh of Madisonville and Nicholas (Whitney) Cavanaugh of Madisonville; 3 grandchildren, Nicholas, Olivia and Oran Cavanaugh; brother, Michael Franklin of Madisonville; aunt, Brenda Raney of Madisonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00pm at Bandy Funeral Home in Nortonville with Bro. Norman Fowler officiating. Burial to follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home.
