Stephen Forrest Cavanaugh, 60 of Madisonville passed away Sunday, February 18, 2024, Dawson Springs Health and Rehab. Born September 13, 1963, he was the son of the late Jimmie "Frog" and Juanita Cavanaugh of Hanson. He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Nortonville. Stephen loved to attend church and to listen to gospel music, especially quartets. He didn't meet strangers, he enjoyed people. His favorite thing was pie, he wasn't picky either, just pie.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by aunts and uncles, Thomas Amon Cavanaugh, Paul Dennis Cavanaugh, O'Neal Lewis, Kenneth Phaup, Jimmy Grace, Jr. Knight, William “Tooter” Grace, Esther Joyce Strader and Edith Lester.
Survived by his sister, Deb (Lewis) Dixon of Madisonville; niece, Lydia Brothers of San Antonio, TX; nephew, Garrett Brothers of Hanson; and aunts and uncles, Martha Jo Lewis of Nortonville, Carolyn Phaup of Madisonville and Rita (Larry) Yandell of Nortonville, Norma Cavanaugh of Henderson and Jeannie Cavanaugh of Nortonville, Rev. Doug Strader of Louisville, Katherine Grace of Nortonville, Johnny (April) Grace of Madisonville and Gene (Brenda) Grace of Nortonville.
Service will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at New Salem Baptist Church in Nortonville with Bro. Steve Rutherford officiating. Burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Nortonville. Visitation will begin at the church at noon.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gideons International.
