Windell Wayne Vandiver, 69 of White Plains passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020, at his home. Born August 8, 1951, to the late Donald and Vannie (Oglesby) Vandiver of Nortonville. He was a retired coal miner spending most of his time with Peabody Coal and a member of UMWA District 12, he was also a mail truck driver for many years. He enjoyed rabbit and squirrel hunting or fishing when he got a chance. He was a UK Wildcats fan. Most of all he was a family man, always caring for and thinking of his girls.
Preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Leslie "Cricket" Vandiver, Wesley "Timer" Vandiver, Charles Henry Whitfield and David Hayden Whitfield.
Survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sherri McCay Vandiver; daughters, Keri (Douglas) Russell, Tabitha Vandiver and Wendy Gary; granddaughters, Shelby Gary, Brooklynn (Travis) Miller and Alli Johnson; grandsons, Brandon Gary, Zachary Martin, Chase Dunn, Cory Martin and Joshua Martin; great-grandchildren, Salem and Declan Miller; and sisters, Dottie Gower, Shirley Ramsey, June Cartwright and Marie Vandiver.
Service will be held at Bandy Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:00P.M. with Bro. Ruby Rickard and Bro. Daniel Vandiver officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Pallbearers will be Jeff Rodgers, James Vandiver, Alan Gilkey, Brandon Gary, Zachary Martin and Chase Dunn. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Edwards and Douglas Russell.
Due to Covid-19 regulations wearing a mask is mandated and social distancing is required. Anyone that has tested positive or has or has had a fever or signs/symptoms in the past 14 days is requested not to attend.
