I didn't know Alan had passed until this morning. He was my Scoutmaster in Troop 133 of Grayson, Ky. I learned so much from Alan and still have the best memories of Scouting because of him. He is missed.

I was saddened to learn of Alan's passing. I was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 133 and learned many skills through Alan's tutelage. Probably the most important lesson I learned from Alan was don't give up just because something is difficult. My condolences to his family.

I want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss of your loved one and I hope the following suggestions help the family members and those who loved Alan O'neal Stanley to lessen their grief.
• Talk about your feelings to “a true companion” who will listen patiently and sympathetically.
• If you have feelings of guilt thinking that some neglect on your part contributed to your loved one’s death, realize, though, that no matter how much we love another person, we cannot prevent “time and unforeseen occurrence from befalling those we love. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
More than anything else, a relationship with God can help you to cope with the death of someone you love. Isaiah 33:24 promises the time when an end to sickness will become a reality. God will put an end to pain, suffering and even DEATH. God promises at Isaiah 25:8 that death will be swallowed up forever.

I send my deepest sympathy to the entire Stanley Family. Always remember the wonderful times that you spent with Alan. Please find comfort in what the Bible says about the opportunity of seeing Alan again under the very best of conditions right here on the earth: “There is going to be a resurrection.” Acts 24:15
For more comfort please go to the following website https://www.jw.org/en/video-why-study-the-bible and then search for "When Someone You Love Dies" Brochure.

My deepest sympathies to you Ellen and family. It truly was a blessing that even for a short time we were able to enjoy mutual interests and share stories and jokes. Alan was probably one of the few men I knew who actually looked good in a kilt. I pray for peace for all of you. Remember, one day we will meet again where we will never have to say good-bye. Blessings and peace to all of you.

My heart goes out to Ellen and the family. I feel so fortunate to have had such a man of great character in my life as he was not only a great Scoutmaster for Troop 331 but a great person. He led by example and provided us with great lessons on how to be better people for ourselves, family, and community.

I value the time that we were able to spend together and all of the life lessons learned along the way. He was a man of great faith and principle and will be remembered by all who had the honor of meeting him.
